I was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida before running as far away as possible (and still receive in-state tuition), for college. At Florida State University I got my bachelor's degree in Editing, Writing, & Media, with a minor in business because I had no concept of what a minor was for. I then decided to test the limits of my seasonal affective disorder and moved to Connecticut where I received my master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. Shortly after my second winter I came to my senses and moved to Washington, DC where I work full-time in Higher Ed, and write every opportunity I get. My writing has appeared in The Advocate, The Washington Post, teenVOGUE, and various other corners of the internet.
